When it comes to referral development, a blitz is used to describe a very short, intensive, and focused effort to push a simple or seasonal message to as many as possible in a defined period of time. This type of campaign is designed to create awareness and build upon existing referral patterns.
For example, establishing extended clinic hours, opening a new satellite location or offering carotid artery screenings in honor of Stroke Awareness Month. To ensure continued effectiveness, a blitz approach is typically only used 3-4 times annually.
